Gas Prices are Low – Don't Waste The Extra Cash

Over the last month, gas prices here in the U.S. have dropped significantly. In our local area this has been from $2.95/gallon to $1.75 and lower. Not only has the gas price dropped, but so has the amount of money that we pump into our cars. Which then has a very direct effect on our budget and savings for that given month.

Are you seeing savings in your gas budget each month? What are you using that extra money for? Do you mind if I make a suggestion? SAVE IT!! Put it towards gas next month, just stick it towards a debt you are paying down or a saving goal you are trying to reach!

Most people will see this as an opportunity to finally buy that item they have been wanting for a while, but this is the wrong way to look at a good thing. Gas prices are not going to be this low forever. Take advantage of it now and use the extra money WISELY!!!

It’s common sense really, but so many people just don’t get it. My good friend just went out and bought a 2000 Mustang GT. Apart from the fact that he had to finance a huge portion of it, it’s going to guzzle gas like crazy. I’ll bet anything he wouldn’t have bought it when gas was nearly $4.

I tried talking him out of it, but it was no use. I really like him, but he can be a bonehead!

@Blake That’s awesome that you tried to talk some sense into your Mustang buying friend. AWESOME JOB! And even better job of knowing when to stop. He’ll learn, the hard way, but he’ll learn.

I hope so. He’s usually really stingy, but this was one huge mistake. Oh well…
