New Glossary Page and A Budget Story

First, I want to draw your attention to the new page above entitled “glossary”. This page is exactly what the title says, a glossary, but specifically of terms that we use here and how we define these terms. This not only gives you meaning to what we are saying, but it helps us to know that you know what we mean when we say “financial freedom”, for example. This page will always be “in construction” as we will continue to add words and definitions as we continue to publish articles. If you ever notice anything that is missing, or needs clarification, do not hesitate to let us know.

Second, one topic we will never be able to talk about enough is that of having a spending plan and living by that spending plan (a.k.a. budget).  We believe that this is a key component to being on the road towards financial freedom and will constantly find ways to talk about it.  We will do this directly, by examples from our personal lives, or indirectly, examples from other people (that we met personally, read about, or heard of).

One reason we talk about spending plan A LOT is because they keep you out of trouble. They tell you where your money is going and where it is not going. This gives you a clear picture of your finances for that month. You will know if you are sinking or swimming. If you are sinking, or beginning to, you will know it. Today’s talk on budgeting comes from Lynnae who writes a blog on personal finance at her website beingfrugal.net. Lynnae is currently in the process of moving, and in doing so was reminded exactly why her and her husband live on a budget. I won’t take any more from the article than that.

Head over to her article here: The Scare of My Life, and Why Budgeting is Important
